Episode 1: The Extensions of Self

In this episode, I talk with Anjola, a fourth year medical student who is currently taking a gap year to pursue a masters in theological studies at Duke Divinity School. We talked about the experiences that drew him to medicine including having family members in the healthcare field and his previous shadowing experiences. Anjola talked about his spirituality and faith and the impact these have made on his professional identity. He shared a story with me about a patient he cared for that died and the connections he made with the patient’s family through their intersecting identities of race and religion.
